Rummaging through the heaps of garbage, a young blue-haired girl seemed to be searching for something amidst the trash. She figured most folks couldn't see her while she was in her Wave Form, so made no effort to conceal herself as she went scurrying about the junkyard in a frenzy.
* squeaksqueak? *
" I told you already, Mus! We're here to find some gear! "
* squeaksqueaksqueak! *
" Don't be like that! Of course the gadgets that this form came equipped with are handy, but they're just not enough for my line of work. "
* squeak... *
Shine smiled proudly, as if that "line of work" of hers held any prestige -- Mus' quiet retort going unheard as she continued digging through the very-non-valuables littering the area.
" I hear there's a professional arms dealer on this island for folks like us; this must be where he stashes all his goods. Pretty smart to hide everything right in plain sight, don't you think? Most folks aren't clever enough to dig through all the junk to get to it, but not the Dazzling, Sensational, Magnificent Shine! "
* squeaksqueak. *
" No, you're helping too! We don't have the money to buy anything, so we'll need to search together and be in and out before we're caught! No sleeping on the job, Mus! "
Their bickering would continue, although it'd only looked like the girl was talking to herself for anyone that could see her, as the search for valuable items continued. And that search would go on for quite sometime -- a testament to the girl's resolve for having not lost any spirit over the course of hours she'd continue digging with nothing to show for it.
Beneath the rubble, hiding out in an enclave carved out from the remains of an old compactor, Aaron's personal office and workshop were active, computers and monitors set up mining wave information, determining the value of specific wave signatures, and applying new concepts to wave data while running field assessments of those modifications in simulations on the Air. Aaron sat back and watched this all happening in real-time, taking notes, figuring out what worked, and making minor modifications to what didn't. Meanwhile, he sat in the ambient heat of the nearby incinerators. He had become accustomed to the heat, this being his second or third year working out from this location, even further thanks to his time with Cherufe. Cherufe was just at home, and in fact, insisted on staying even closer to the incinerators, the molten wizard normally lounging very close to the wall that separated his workshop from the flames.
His charts were telling him that some wave activity was going on up top, which wasn't unheard of. In fact, he was almost more surprised when he saw that there wasn't any wave activity going on above him, as the wave world at Dream Island was always pretty active. There was a fast moving wave signature that he didn't recognize; this usually meant a new face, or just someone too curious for their own good. Either way, he was pretty intent on leaving them alone, up until he noticed the large influx of Noise that suddenly seemed to be flooding in above him.
Sneering, he pushed away from his screens and beckoned to Cherufe. The lazy wave being didn't even bother moving, but rather just dematerialized, returning to Aaron's Hunter at his request. Using a nearby Wave Station that he had modified, he connected his work space to the Wave Roads above, and, entering in his wave command, streaked from the confines of his space to the open air above.
Smoke, trash, flies, and heat still filled the air up here; it wasn't his favorite place in the world, but it got the job done. Moving around in the statuesque state of Cherufe's contained form was always something of a chore, but he managed to turn and give his attention to the space around him, immediately taking notice of the little girl wave-warrior making a fuss while digging through the mess. He didn't take too long paying any attention to her, though, as all the stuff she was poking around in got just enough garbage moving around that it seemed to remind Dream Island that it just liked to produce Noise for no good reason.
"Do you always poke your nose in places that stink, or is it just an unfortunate habit that only occurs when it happens to inconvenience someone else?" Cherufe Lava asked in a deep, bellowing, somewhat lulled and slow voice, like they were just barely managing to stay away between yawns. He said it in a somewhat upbeat, sarcastic tone, obviously a bit upset by the whole debacle, but spirited about it. "You're new, so I'll give you the rundown - Dream Island produces more Noise than any other location not affiliated directly with the remnants of Dealer, Meteor G, or the Satella's golden boy," he explained, inching forward on the molten slag that acted as his snail's foot. "You move stuff around, it makes even more, and viruses like Noise, so they really like Dream Island." He looked beyond her, at the noise collecting together, and saw a few viruses form, just as she continued to poke her nose in places it didn't belong.
"The name's Cherufe Magma. I'm a regular fixer," he told her, using terminology that anyone from the EMC should recognize. "Hope you're ready for a tango, because you just made this a party for two."
He didn't seem pleased about that.
The Junk Yard supports the following Panel Types, and enforces the following special panel rules.
- Null - Sand - Cracked - Hole
Cherufe Magma will begin the battle on Cracked Panels. Viruses spawn on Null Panels within Range of all combatants, unless a more advantageous panel is present.
Virus Thread - Wave 1, Lv1 :: Spawns 1 v1 Virus ° Each virus wave spawns 1 additional virus of the highest version that wave would create. ° Each virus wave spawns 1 additional virus of the highest version that wave would create per two Wave Warriors present.
v1 Viruses ° 2 Movement Actions. Can freely attempt to Dodge the most damaging attack made against them each turn. ° Attack once per turn ° Deal Modest Damage with their attack ° One Attack gains a Pathetic Static Damage Buff per 10% of accrued Noise, caps at +10% Damage. ° Has Great Health
The viruses cropped up from beyond trash piles, underneath loads of garbage, hopped down from Wave Roads, and overall just seemed to be clambering out of old machinery of all kinds. Dream Island really was full of them . . . they directed their attention on Molten Cherufe, for the most part.

The girl was startled by the sudden voice from her blindside, making more noise as she completely-chalantly began shoving trash back into the pile that she had been digging through. Luckily, the guy that had caught her seemed to be a pretty slow mover, so she figured she could beat a retreat if he was here to catch her.
His greeting implied otherwise at least, and she didn't have time to return with her own before the viruses arrived and began approaching them with hostile intent. Cherufe's declaration indicated his intentions to confront them as he held his position despite their advancing. "A party for two", he had called it.
" Speak for yourself! Mus, let's jet! "
* squeak! *
Shine threw something down at her feet, and immediately afterward a dense cloud of smoke enveloped and concealed her entirely... but it didn't expand quite far enough to mask any direction that she could run in. After a moment or two of nothing happening, it was clear that she was just loitering inside of the smoke screen rather than actually escaping -- almost as if she was just pretending not to be there despite it being completely obvious that she was.

The two Wave Warriors charged the viruses, prepared to unleash all of their force against them. Without much warning, however, a surge of Noise flooded the area, even greater than what was present, before. Intense fogs of green Noise clouds clustered together at an instant and conglomerated into more recognizable black clouds spontaneously, and the sudden influx of power caused many of the viruses in the area to instantly be snuffed out, getting dragged into the singularity of Noise.
The Noise Cluster collapsed and turned inward, as a massive Noise Wave entrance formed at the center of the Wave Road the two wave warriors were gathered on, an ominous and dangerous level of Noise converging from within.
From within her cloud of smoke, Shine witnessed the sudden arrival of the Noise Cluster wipe out the viruses instantly.
* squeaksqueak *
" Pretty dangerous indeed... "
* ... squeak? *
" ... which is perfect! Exactly what we came here for! "
* ?!!!! *
Without Mus's say in the matter, Shine darted into the Noise Wave, thinking that this was her lucky break. While it was true that she came here looking for better weapons... this logic of hers was hard to even explain. Perhaps she thought that she could weaponize the Noise Cluster? Or maybe she thought that, inside of the Noise Wave, she'd find a weapon without that she could utilize instead?
It was hard to say, but before a conclusion could be drawn, she was already gone and all that was left was to watch how it all unfolded from there.
Out of nowhere, Cherufe Magma's Noise analytics went off the charts. Seemingly with a mind all its own, a Noise Cluster formed and then immediately combusted, collapsing into a massive Noise Wave. To watch such a thing happen in real time was haunting in the extreme, and Cherufe Magma immediately wanted to take the time to study this before -
- and then the girl just runs into it. Inside the Wave Form, Aaron hated himself for his standards. While a villain at his core, chivalry still yet lived. What he would tell himself is that the potential of her finding the root of this and profitting from it before he did was something he could not allow, so he would have to follow in after her.
He traveled a bit more sluggishly than she did, but the snails pace got him where he needed to go without worry. The two of them traveled into the dark, ever-changing expanse of a Noise Wave, and as the black waves surrounded them on all sides, the light of the world behind them completely blotted out. A Noise Wave of this caliber was like its own miniature Wave World, with its own rules and formations, as an impossible and unreal geometry of irregularly arranged squares spiraled outward in front of them.
Noise filled the air in dense green and black clouds, and in some spaces even flooded together into massive crystals of Crimson. Even as they were entering it, the Noise Wave was still growing, expanding outward as more and more Noise filled the area.
"This is . . . incredible," Molten Cherufe breathed, unbelieving.
He began dragging himself along, his snail-like form leaving molten magma behind him, the statuesque wave warrior needing all of his attention to keep himself moving forward. Cherufe was still sleeping, so Aaron was in charge, but while Cherufe slept, they were stuck like this.
"What even is your name, girl?" he asked as they went further in, carefully picking his own way across the Noise Wave's treacherous design.
This was certainly a new experience to her and least of all what she expected coming into it. Her gawking at the Wave Space would be interrupted by Cherufee's query, almost as a testament to her short attention span.
" I'm Shine. "
She'd turn toward him and point to herself with her thumb as she introduced herself, as if to display her visage and give him a better look at somebody he would recognize.
" Yup -- *The* Shine! "
Quite the celebrity, surely.
With her antics aside, she'd notice the path behind them was blotted from view now. While they could probably follow Cherufee's droppings back to the entrance if they wanted to get out, there was no telling if the exit was closed or if it was just clouded from view behind them.
" Smart thinking, leaving a trail! I wonder how deep this place goes? "
Oblivious to the danger, or perhaps just enthralled by it, the girl would continue exploring the space at her leisure. Her movement wasn't nearly as restricted as Cherufee's, so she'd constantly wander back to him after having strayed a little ways away, almost as if a pet bound by an invisible leash to its owner, or a child in a supermarket -- never going out of sight of their guardian, but not standing in their immediate proximity for very long before strolling away again temporarily.
Cherufe Magma erupted a plume of smoke from its nostrils as she introduced herself like she were famous. In truth, he hadn't a clue who she was; that wasn't always a bad thing, though. As they moved through the Noise Wave, he at least had time to pay attention to her movement style. She was faster than he was, more lithe, and a smaller target. That complimented his style very well, as the two of them would at least need to be able to stay away from danger, and he preferred to charge into it.
As they got deeper, the Noise simply became more intense, with no signs of it even attempting to resonate or crystallize. How all of this noise was stabilized at these levels made no sense to him, but there were no signs of any operating Wave Being here that had any level of control over the Noise, at least.
As they pushed further, he realized just how wrong of an assessment that was.
A large platform of Noise, deep into the structure of the Wave, held a single floating figure at its center. Grey in color, devoid of any thoughts in its eyes, was a wave being that looked much like a beast, with plated metallic armor over its mouth, torso, and claws, and a bestial mane sprouting from the back of its neck. The monstrous looking wave being was large in comparison to basic wizards, about as large as Shine herself was in terms of height, but broad and strong. Anyone who knew anything about the world at large would recognize it, of course, as it was well-known what Dealer had accomplished all those years ago.

Cherufe Magma didn't know just how much trouble this particular Omega-Xis copy was worth, but knew enough to remember that they were quite dangerous. He and Shine were definitely in for a rough battle, he realized. It may be better to start back-pedaling, now - not that he thought Shine was intelligent enough to realize that, though. He wasn't one to count himself out of the match before it even began, but, he was also not one to lay himself down for something like this.
"Shine - Be ready to go, and I mean quickly," he rumbled. Cherufe was still mostly asleep, so, they had to work with what they were given, it seemed. The heat flowing from the statue rose to incredible levels, as a molten-hot piece of slag rolled off the edge of the statue, solidified, and broadened itself into a spear. With that being all he could muster for the time being, he launched the spear at the copy, to see what it would give him.

Well, he didn't have to tell her twice. The noise coming from Shine's direction was like that of an artificial smoke machine -- and it was probably exactly that as a dense fog of smoke clouded her from vision. It still wouldn't be that hard to tell where she was, though, as the area it covered was mostly isola--
" HAAAAA!!! "
-- on the other hand, she wasn't even in the smoke?!
Charging in from the opposite side, Shine swung her sword haphazardly at the threatening new arrival, either stupidly or brilliantly using the smokescreen as a decoy rather than as a cover, depending on how you thought about it. It wouldn't be that way for long though, as she vanished instantly after the attack to cower in the cloud of smoke before the electromagnetic beast had too much time to react to her antics.

The copy of the world's most powerful battle wizard took the assault from the two warriors without even flinching, and immediately responded by opening its mouth and unleashing small, condensed bursts of energy, each one flying straight for Molten Cherufe. It seemed intelligent enough to realize that Shine was off limits, and so it instead approached the pair and lifted both claws, swiping once in either direction, the force of the swings unleashing large shockwaves that attempted to overwhelm and overpower each of them and their defenses.

The thing was content with just eating their blows, unworried and unbothered. Knowing that this probably meant they were far too weak of a prey for it to actually be concerned with, he felt himself liven up with a bit of that fury that rests within. Cherufe was still slumbering for now, but as the blows came in, the heat started to rise. Cherufe Magma returned the favor by just soaking up the pummeling as best he could.
With each strike cracking open the shell, intense heat was allowed to flood from within. Cherufe Magma vented out a cloud of noxious fumes and ash, releasing a plume cloud of sulfurous waste into the air packed with burning cinders. Some of the ash collected at his command and formed a spear, also ablaze with his new fury, which he sent towards the copy, wondering if now it would take them seriously.

While the beast seemed mostly focused on Cherufee, Shine took advantage of the opening and moved in to strike again, careful to weave around its swings and shockwaves so that she wouldn't be slowed down in her sudden attack. After her flurry of sword swings, she'd disappear into the smoke once more to find another opening to strike.

After being berated and assaulted once again, the Beast holds its ground. Whether out of stoicism, brute strength, raw hedonism, or just abject stupidity, it stands its ground, allowing the two wave warriors to batter and bruise it without even attempting to defend itself.
The Noise in the space continues to rise, but is not yet at a critical point. As it rises up, the monster opens its mouth and prepares itself, energy and noise flooding into its maw as the noise was forcefully crystalized and then adapted at its own will, all at once unleashing as a stream of tidal wave after tidal wave that crashed towards them without relenting.
